Cheesy Leek and Bacon Gratin
Ingredients
- 150 g (5.3 oz) bacon (about 6 slices)
- 100 g (3.5 oz) aged cheddar cheese, grated
- 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) heavy cream
- 2 medium leeks
- 2 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Slice the white and light green parts of the leeks. Rinse well to remove any grit.
3. In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, sauté the leeks until tender and lightly browned. Season with salt and pepper.
5. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, grated cheddar, and thyme. Mix well.
6. Grease a 23x33 cm (9x13 inch) baking dish.
7. Layer half of the leeks, cream mixture, and bacon in the dish. Repeat the layers.
8. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
