A cold winter evening calls for this rich and satisfying chicken breast gratin. Smoky paprika and caramelized onions meld together for incredible depth of flavor that's impossible to resist. Pair it with creamy mashed potatoes or a side of steamed rice to take full advantage of the indulgent sauce.
Ingredients
  • 1.1 pounds / 500g chicken breast fillets
  • 1.2 cups / 300ml heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons / 30g unsalted butter, for greasing
  • 2 tablespoons / 30g Dijon mustard
  • 4 servings cooked rice or boiled potatoes
  • 1/2 meat bouillon cube
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F or 175°C.

2. Sear the onions and paprika in butter in a large skillet until the onions are translucent and have a rich, caramelized color.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, salt, and white pepper together until smooth.

4. Put the chicken breast fillets in a greased baking dish and spoon the onion and paprika mixture over each one.

5. Pour the cream mixture over the chicken and onions, making sure they're fully coated.

6. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked and the sauce is golden and bubbly.

7. Serve the chicken breast gratin hot with steamed rice or creamy mashed potatoes on the side.
