Creamy Pasta Bake with Smoked Ham Broccoli and Noble Cheese

Creamy Pasta Bake with Smoked Ham Broccoli and Noble Cheese
I created this hearty pasta bake for special nights in with family and friends. The combination of smoky ham and steamed broccoli in a rich creamy sauce is an absolute winner. It's comfort food that's both simple and impressive making it perfect for a cozy dinner party or a lazy Sunday evening.
Ingredients
  • 475 ml / 1 cup heavy cream
  • 340g / 12 oz smoked ham, sliced
  • 225g / 2 cups noble cheese (or similar mature cheese), shredded, 31% fat
  • 225g / 12 oz pasta shells
  • 115g / 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • broccoli
  • paprika to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F or 190°C.

2. Cook the pasta shells al dente according to the package instructions then drain and set them aside.

3. Melt 1 tablespoon or 15 grams of butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Add sliced smoked ham and cook until it's lightly browned - about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the ham from the skillet and set it aside.

4. In the same skillet add the remaining 1 tablespoon or 15 grams of butter. Add broccoli florets and cook until they're tender - about 5 minutes. Season them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to your taste.

5. Combine the cooked pasta, smoked ham, and broccoli in a large mixing bowl. Mix everything well to combine.

6. In a separate bowl whisk the heavy cream and shredded noble cheese together until it's smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to your taste.

7. Grease a 9x13 inch or 23x33 centimeter baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Add the pasta mixture then top it with the cream and cheese sauce.

8. Bake it in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.

9. Remove it from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
