Creamy Sausage Stroganoff with Mustard
Ingredients
- 1.76 lbs / 800g sausage (e.g., Swedish Falukorv)
- 1 large yellow onion
- 1.7 cups / 400ml heavy cream
- 1.7 cups / 400ml milk
- 6 tbsp / 84g butter
- 4 tbsp / 56g all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp / 45g tomato puree
- 2 tbsp / 30g sweet mustard
- 1 tbsp / 15g coarse mustard
- 1 tbsp / 15g Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp / 5g black pepper
- 1 tsp / 5g salt
Instructions
1. Slice the sausage into thin strips.
2. Peel and finely chop the onion.
3. Melt 30g (2 tablespoons) of butter in a pan over medium heat then add the sausage and cook for about 1 minute.
4. Add the chopped onion and cook for another 2 minutes.
5. Add 125ml (1/2 cup) of tomato puree and sprinkle 15g (1 tablespoon) of flour over it. Mix well.
6. Add 250ml (1 cup) of milk and 125ml (1/2 cup) of heavy cream and let it simmer for about 15 minutes stirring occasionally at 180°C (350°F).
7. Season with 10g (2 teaspoons) of mustard salt and pepper to taste.
8. Garnish with dill and serve with rice.
