Delicious Meatballs and Cheese Gratin with Mustard and Sambal
- 1 cup grated mature cheese (31% fat content), use 250g or 8.82 oz
- 1.32 lbs meatballs, use 600g or 21.16 oz
- 2 fresh tomatoes, use 280g or 9.88 oz and 25g or 0.88 oz olive oil
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) or 180°C in a fan-assisted oven.
2. In a large bowl, combine the grated cheese and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
3. Slice the meatballs into thick rounds.
4. In a separate bowl, mix the mustard and sambal together.
5. Grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray. Arrange a layer of meatballs in the dish. Spread half of the cheese mixture on top, followed by a layer of tomato slices.
6. Drizzle the mustard-sambal mixture evenly over the tomato layer.
7. Repeat steps 4-5, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
8. Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
9. Serve the gratin hot with a side of steaming hot rice.
