Easy Yeast Bread
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups water (at room temperature)
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.49 oz active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tbsp light syrup
1. In a large mixing bowl combine the flour and yeast.
2. In a separate bowl mix the salt sugar syrup and warm water until dissolved.
3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients mixing until a sticky dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm draft-free place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
6. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a round or oblong loaf.
8. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
9. Bake the loaf for 35-40 minutes or until its golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
10. Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
