Italian Style Cheese Fritters with Cured Ham and Burrata
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) olive oil
- 480 ml (2 cups) arrabbiata sauce
- 400 g (14 oz) air-dried cured ham, thinly sliced
- 250 g (9 oz) burrata cheese
- 500 g (17.6 oz) cold rectangular cheese-flavored puff pastry
- 240 g (2 cups) grated mozzarella cheese
- 130 g (4.6 oz) arugula
- Flaky salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Roll out the cheese puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it is about 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick.
4. Cut the pastry into 24 equal squares.
5. Place a teaspoon of arrabbiata sauce in the center of each square.
6. Add a slice of cured ham on top of the sauce.
7. Place a small piece of burrata cheese over the ham.
8. Fold each square diagonally into a triangle.
9. Press the edges firmly to seal them closed.
10. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a tight seal.
11. Brush the top of each fritter with olive oil.
12. Sprinkle with flaky salt and freshly ground black pepper.
13. Place the fritters on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2.5 cm (1 inch) of space between each.
14. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
15. Serve the fritters warm, garnished with fresh arugula.
16. Handle hot fritters with care to avoid burns.
