Meatballs in Creamy Sauce
- 450g / 1 lb ground beef
- 235ml / 1 cup water
- 115g / ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 60g / 4 tbsp all-purpose breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 10g / 2 tsp black pepper
- 5g / 1 tsp salt
- ½ finely chopped yellow onion
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Combine softened butter salt and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
3. Add breadcrumbs ground beef egg and water to the bowl and mix well until just combined being careful not to overmix.
4. Divide the mixture into small portions about the size of a small egg and shape each portion into a ball.
5. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper leaving a small gap between each meatball.
6. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until cooked through.
7. Melt 2 tablespoons (30g) of butter over medium heat in a medium saucepan.
8. Add 2 tablespoons (30g) of all-purpose flour to the saucepan and whisk until smooth.
9. Gradually add 1 cup (235ml) of heavy cream to the saucepan whisking continuously until the sauce thickens.
10. Remove the meatballs from the oven and place them in the creamy sauce.
11. Serve hot with boiled potatoes and your choice of side dishes.
