Scandinavian Meatballs

Scandinavian Meatballs
My homemade meatballs are a true winter favorite - tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. I make them for special occasions and cozy nights in alike. There's something comforting about the combination of rich meat, soft breadcrumbs and a hint of spice that just feels like home. These little bundles of joy are sure to become a staple in your household, just like they have in mine. Whether you're hosting a festive feast or just need a hearty pick-me-up, my meatballs are sure to hit the spot.
Ingredients
  • 450g/1 lb 1/4 oz ground beef and pork mix (50% beef, 50% pork)
  • 375ml/1 1/2 cups heavy cream and milk mix (50% cream, 50% milk)
  • 225ml/1/2 cup vegetable oil or 115g/1/2 cup melted butter for frying
  • 115g/1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 6g/1 teaspoon salt
  • 3g/1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2g/1 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F or 190°C.

2. In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, freshly ground black pepper and allspice. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.

3. Gradually add heavy cream and flour mixing until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.

4. Use your hands to shape the mixture into small meatballs about 1 1/2 inches or 3.8 cm in diameter. You should end up with around 30 meatballs.

5. Heat vegetable oil or melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot add the meatballs and fry until browned on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.

6. Transfer the meatballs to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until cooked through.

7. Serve the meatballs hot.
