Vanilla Shortbread Cookies with Flaky Salt
- 20g flaky salt
- 250g granulated sugar
- 5g baking powder
- 225g unsalted butter (softened)
- 30g light syrup
- 312g all-purpose flour

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons light syrup
- 1 teaspoon flaky salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Add the vanilla powder and mix well.
5. Gradually add the flour, stirring until a dough forms.
6. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion to about 1/4 inch thickness.
8. Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
9. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
10. Sprinkle the tops with flaky salt.
11. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
12. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
